Privacy policy statement

  • Privacy statement

We attach utmost importance to the protection and security of your data, regardless of whether you are a customer or a visitor to our online presence. Therefore, we undertake to protect your privacy and to treat your data confidentially. We are pleased to inform you here which of your personal data relating to your visit to this website will be captured and for which purposes they will be used.

    I. Definition

"Personal data" is any information about a person whose identity is known or identifiable. "Person concerned" is a specific or identifiable physical person whose data is used.

II. Principles of processing personal data

    1. We shall fully comply with the legal data privacy rules.

The data privacy guidelines of the European Union and the national legislation derived therefrom shall apply to the storage, processing and use of personal data. The processing of data shall be based on statutory legitimization or on the consent of the person concerned.

    2. Personal data shall not be sold, lent, leased or passed on to third parties in any other way without your consent.

We shall not notify your personal data to any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes or in any other way, without this being required for the performance due from us or without your explicit consent.

Companies directly or indirectly affiliated with us are not regarded as third parties. We may also communicate personal data to outsourcing partners, if they provide sufficient guarantee of the lawful and safe use of the data, and if they bind themselves by contract to comply with the principles of action as described herein.

We do, however, reserve the right to communicate personal data to other companies within the scope of re-structuring or merger, provided they undertake to comply with the principles of action as described herein, and if they have their domicile either inside the European Union or in a third country providing adequate data protection.

To the extent you have declared your consent to your data being processed, with said processing exceeding what is required for contractual performance, you may revoke such consent at any time.

If you actively choose to use the functions of social networks offered on our website, personal data will be transferred to the respective external providers of these social networks. For further details on this subject, please refer to section 4 below.

We further reserve the right to disclose personal data to third parties if we are compelled to do so by law, judicial decision of a competent court, or an order of a competent public authority, or if we are compelled by acts or omissions on your part to have our rights, property or assets protected or enforced by the competent authorities.

    3. In the procurement of data, we shall restrict ourselves to what is necessary and reasonable.

Whenever we collect personal data, we will explain to you what we need the data for. We need personal data to enable you to use our website, to manage our business, to meet our contractual obligations, and to provide customized services to you. For instance, we will process your personal data in dealing with your inquiries. In the area of "materials ordering", the relevant information is your name and your address. If you are interested in our newsletter, we will obtain your e-mail address.

It may occur that we link personal data with other data available to us in order to optimize our services. We reserve the right to carry out statistical analyses, in particular for the purpose of system security and of improving the website even further. Your data shall be deleted upon the purpose of their storage lapsing, unless their storage continues to serve any legitimate purpose and unless any duties of data storage are opposed.

    4. Information on social networks

This website uses so-called “social plug-ins” of various social networks. These plug-ins are functions of the respective social network through which you can share content of our website with your social media contacts, for instance, or recommend this content to others. Social plug-ins can be identified by the logo of the respective social network.

We are using social plug-ins of the following social network providers:

    • Facebook: Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA
    • Google+: Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA
    • Twitter: Twitter Inc., Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA
    • LinkedIn: LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, California 94043, USA
    • Pinterest: Pinterest Inc., 808 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA

On our website, all social plug-ins are disabled as standard; accordingly, no data will be transmitted to social network providers by just calling up our website. If you enable a social plug-in that was initially disabled and therefore want to use the functionality of the respective social network, you explicitly accept that data will be transmitted to the provider of the social network. The volume of data collected by the social network providers in this way is beyond our control. According to our level of knowledge, the following data will be collected:

Via the integrated social plug-ins, the social network operators will be informed that you have called up the respective pages of our website. If you are logged into any of the social networks at the same time, the operator will be able to match the relevant call-ups with your account at the respective social network. Moreover, if you interact with the social plug-ins, e.g. by clicking on the “Like” button of Facebook, the relevant information will be forwarded to the respective social network.

As far as we know, the following data will be transferred in the process:

    • IP address
    • User identification if you are logged in at the relevant service
    • Previously visited site (referrer) if you followed a link
    • Type and settings of browser
    • Plug-ins installed such as Adobe® Flash® or Adobe® Reader®
    • URL of the site which the social plug-in is embedded in
    • The date and time of your visit
    • Technical details of your operating system
    • Location-based information
    • Cookies.

Even if you are not a member of any of the social networks listed above, it may be possible for them to find out your IP address via the social plug-in and store it. For details on the purpose and scope of data processing, collection and use by the social networks we are using, and on your rights and optional settings in this context, please refer to the social networks' statements on data protection:

    • For Facebook at:
    http://www.facebook.com/policy.php

    • For Google+ at:
    https://developers.google.com/+/web/buttons-policy

    • For Twitter at:
    www.twitter.com/privacy

    • For LinkedIn at:
    http://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy

    • For Pinterest at:
    http://about.pinterest.com/privacy/
If you like, you can permanently enable the social plug-ins of one or several providers. In this case, data will be transmitted to the social network provider already upon calling up the site. You can deactivate any or all social plug-ins at any time.

You may also be able to technically prevent any data transfer to social networks. To do so, please adjust the security settings in the web browser you are using. For instructions on how to do this, please refer to the “Help” section in your web browser.

In individual cases it is also possible to block social plug-ins by means of add-ons for your browser, for example to block the Facebook plug-in using the “Facebook Blocker”, which you can download from the following site, among others:
    http://webgraph.com/resources/facebookblocker/

    5. Log files

Upon each site call-up, access information will be saved in a log file, the so-called server log. The data set saved will contain the following information:

    • Date and time

    • IP address

    • Session ID

    • Website called up

    • Name of website from which our website was called up

    • Browser used.

We will analyse these log files only in case of any abuse of our website. We shall reserve to retrospectively examine the log files of users specifically suspected of using our website illegally and/or in breach of contract.

    6. Cookies

On our website, we use cookies in order to make visiting our website attractive for users and to enable the use of certain functions. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer. Most of the cookies used by us will be deleted from your hard disk after the end of the browser session (so-called session cookies). Other cookies will remain on your computer, allowing us to identify your computer upon your next visit (so-called long-term cookies).

If you don't want our cookies to be stored on your computer, please disable the storage of cookies in your browser for our website or adjust the settings of your browser in such a way that cookies will generally not be stored on your computer.

Disabling the cookies may require the storage of a permanent cookie on your computer. If you subsequently delete this cookie, you must repeat the disabling routine. Please note that with disabled cookies some functions may not be available on our website.

The following cookies are used on our website:

    a. Session ID

In order to facilitate browsing through our website, we use a so-called session ID (or session identifier in full) that is allocated to each user at the beginning of each use of our website. This session ID enables our server to identify you and/or your computer/browser as the same visitor in spite of the IP address possibly having changed in the meantime. Based on this session ID, several associated enquiries by one user can be allocated to one session. The session ID cookie used by us will only be valid until the end of a session. It will be deleted automatically upon closing your browser.

    b. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California 94043, USA. Google Analytics also uses cookies that allow, among other things, to analyse the way you use the website. As a rule, the information generated by these cookies is transferred to and stored on a server operated by Google in the USA. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website in order to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports regarding website activities and provide services for the website operator relating to website and Internet usage. These reports and services are used to continuously improve the facilities offered by this website.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by making an appropriate setting in your browser. We must point out, however that if you do so, you will be unable to use all the functionalities of this website to their full extent.

You can also prevent the capture and processing of data relating to your use of the website (incl. your IP address), generated by these cookies, by Google by simply downloading and installing the following Google browser plug-in, clicking on the following link:
    https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en
. Other similar plug-ins are also available from other providers depending on the particular browser you use.
In view of the debate regarding the use of analysis tools with full IP addresses, please note that this website uses Google Analytics with the “anonymizeIp()” extension, ensuring that IP addresses are processed in truncated form only and preventing them from being traced to a specific user. In member states of the European Union or in other states that are parties to the European Economic Area treaty, Google will therefore truncate your IP address before transferring it. Full IP addresses will be sent to a Google server in the USA to be truncated there only in exceptional cases. The IP address sent by your browser when using Google Analytics is not combined with any other Google data.

    c. Google Maps

This website uses Google Maps on some web pages to show interactive maps and to prepare directions. Google Maps is a map service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California 94043, USA. By using Google Maps, information relating to the use of this website, including your IP address and the (start) address entered within the scope of the route planner function may be transmitted to Google in the USA.

Whenever you call up a website of our Internet presence that contains Google Maps, your browser will establish a direct connection to Google servers. The map content will directly be transmitted to your browser and integrated by the latter into the website. Therefore, the volume of data thus collected by Google is beyond our control. According to our level of knowledge, at least the following data will be collected:

    • Date and time of the visit to the respective website

    • Internet address or URL of the website called up

    • IP address

    • (Start) address entered within the scope of route planning.

The further processing and use of the data by Google is beyond our control, and accordingly we cannot assume any responsibility for this. If you don't want Google to collect, process or use, through our website, any data relating to you, you can disable JavaScript in your browser settings. If you do so, however, you will not be able to use the maps.

Please refer to Google's data privacy statement for the scope and purpose of data collection and for the further processing and use of the data by Google, as well as for your relevant rights and optional settings to protect your privacy:
